Wounded

Charlie and her dad are wounded. Charlie had her 4 month check-up and shots today. She weighs in at 12 lbs 14 oz (48 percentile) and 25 inches (78 percentile). Bodie was helping his brother cut down a tree and ended up getting his arm smashed between two parts of the tree as he was cutting a branch off. He went and got an x-ray, but nothing was broken, thank goodness. The feeling in his hand isn't quite back yet and he can't really lift or grab anything. I guess I will be taking care of my injured family members for the next couple of days.

Aunt Jenn

Charlie LOVES her Aunt Jenn! When Bodie was with Charlie last week Jenn came over for a while and Charlie was so excited to see her. Bodie said she couldn't even finish her bottle because she was so excited. Today, Jenn came over again and Charlie just kept looking at her and smiling and babbling to her. It was so cute!

Laugh

Camping

We bought a tent trailer a couple of weeks ago and so we decided to go use it this weekend. We knew it would be cold, but our trailer has a heater and we really wanted to go! We went to Brownlee overnight. The second day it started to snow so we decided to come home a little earlier than we had planned. We had fun and it was nice to get out of the house for a night!Kylee and Tiler with Charlie

Easter!

Thanks Easter Bunny!!
Charlie and her Daddy watching TV. This was the only thing we could do that would calm Charlie down. We went to my cousin's house and Charlie got upset (I guess with all of the new people around her??). She cried for quite a while until Dad turned on the TV for her. We are in trouble!!!

HELP!!!

Charlie has been waking up in the night this last month. At first it was only one time and I would just go give her the binky and she was fine. I thought it would pass, but it hasn't. Last night it was FIVE times!!!! I am not enjoying this. She never cries when she wakes up, she just kind of rolls around and "talks" to herself. If I don't get the binky back in her mouth in time, she gets too awake and starts moving her arms around too much and pulling the binky out of her mouth. Any suggestions??? Pointers??? Tips???? I know there are experienced moms reading my blog..........leave a suggestion for me :) How do I "teach" her to get herself back to sleep?

I am especially appreciative of how she started doing this now that I am back to work (Yes, she was doing it before, too. I have already thought it might be me returning to work, but she was doing it before, just not waking as many times as she is now) :)

Sleeping on the Job!

Playing is such hard work. I think I'll take a little nap!!

Spring Cleaning

OK, so it isn't officiaially spring yet, but we have begun cleaning our yard anyway. We use to have a bunch of excuses NOT to clean out the flower beds, like being pregnant, being cold outside or just trying to convince ourselves that it didn't look "that bad." But it was time to do something.....no more excuses left. The couple we bought our house from liked gardening a little too much. There were a bunch of wild flowers everywhere in the back yard. The entire side of the house was a "garden" with overgrown flowers of all kinds. We are NOT gardeners! We knew we had to do something with it, but we didn't do it quick enough and it got a little out of hand. So, these last couple of weekends we have been working on cleaning out our yard. We have taken several loads of concrete and old bricks to the dump. The entire back burm consisted of concrete pieces and old bricks from the back patio. We found this out when we had a storage shed built this fall and had to dig out concrete just to get a smooth surface for the shed. Bodie spent last weekend digging out the rest of the burm and placing rocks around as an edge for the yard. Obviously, it isn't finished yet, but it is really an improvement from the overgrown mess it was. I don't have a before picture (partly because it would have been embarassing and partly because I didn't think to take one), but here is the after. We need to find a couple of easy maitenance bushes/flowers or ground cover or something to plant now. Bodie and I are clueless with types of flowers that would work well. You should see us when we clean out the flower beds. We are always asking each other if we should take this or that out or if she should just trim it or cut it off and if it will come back next year or not?? We have TONS (and I mean TONS) of bulbs everywhere in the flower beds and Bodie said one time when he was cleaning out "I don't know what these things are, but they are all over." Yes, we are "garden challenged." If anyone has suggestions for plants that would work well, please help us!!!!!
Bodie planted this willow tree a couple weeks ago, too. Our back patio is so HOT in the summer that we can't even sit out there. Hopefully this willow will help, eventually!

Holding my own bottle!

This isn't the best picture, but Charlie has started holding her own bottle! She gets so excited to eat that she almost grabs the bottle out of our hands and tries to get it to her mouth. She has always liked to hold onto something when she eats (my shirt, for example), so now she likes holding the bottle!

Sweet Story

A friend sent this to me and I thought it was so sweet.............

A baby asked God, 'They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?' God said, 'Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you.'The child further inquired, 'But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy.' God said, 'Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy.'Again the child asked, 'And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?' God said, 'Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak.' 'And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?' God said, 'Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray.''Who will protect me?' God said, 'Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life.''But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore.' God said, 'Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you.'At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, 'God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name.'God said, 'You will simply call her, 'Mom.'

New Favorite Toy!

Charlie really likes this toy. She is still kind of small for it so I have to put blankets around her to keep her standing up, but she really seems to like it. It makes funny noises that she isn't too sure about at first, but then she decides that it is fun!

Wigglin'

This happened a couple of weeks ago. Charlie decided to start wiggling herself out of her bouncer seat. I used to put her in this seat on the counter when I was cooking dinner or doing housework........now I guess I have to strap her in!
